Description
These lovely textured sterling silver earrings are part of the Widemouth Collection and a rectangular shape. They measure approx 4.5mm x 8.5mm and have had sterling silver posts soldered on and sterling silver butterfly backs added. Due to their handcrafted nature each item will be slightly different, creating a completely unique piece that isn’t replicated. All jewellery comes in a blue/metallic gift box.
Widemouth Bay in North Cornwall has incredible rock formations with striation lines formed thousands of years ago. These were my inspiration for this collection to create a linear texture.
The pieces start off being made from a Japanese wax ‘Mitsuro Hikime’ which is made of pine resin and beeswax. I then stretch, shape and form the wax which produces texture and lines (striations) that are present in the final piece. These textured models are then sent to be lost wax cast in sterling silver. On return I remove the silver sprues, file, polish and finish and they are either kept as a complete piece such as a ring or bracelet to show off the the forms that were created in wax or sometimes I cut, form, solder or set with stones to create an enhanced piece of mitsuro hikime jewellery. Every piece is one of a kind, unique and never exactly reproduced.
All of my jewellery is hand designed and created by myself within my workroom, on the edge of Dartmoor Devon. During the forming process there can be evidence of workmanship and no two items are identical. These are not faults but make each piece unique unlike anything mass produced. All silver is purchased from reputable UK suppliers and I recycle as much waste silver as possible.
* Due to hygiene reasons I’m unable to accept returns on earrings unless faulty
All jewellery is presented in a blue/metallic gift box.
