Jewellery Care

Jewellery care

All jewellery requires a little care to ensure it continues to look beautiful over time. Although metals vary slightly in hardness, surface finishes naturally change with wear. Scratches may develop, and sterling silver will tarnish as part of its nature. The tips below will help you keep your jewellery in its best condition.

1. Wearing

  • Always put on your jewellery last, after applying make-up, perfume, or hair products, as these can damage delicate finishes.
  • Remove jewellery before activities that may cause harm, such as exercising, gardening, or swimming—especially in chlorinated water.
  • Take jewellery off before bathing or showering, and before going to bed, as pieces can become misshaped while you sleep.
  • Avoid contact with chemicals (including hair dye), direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and anything that may cause knocks or scratches.

2. Storing

  • Store jewellery in the box provided, or in a container with a soft lining, when not being worn.
  • Keep pieces separate to avoid scratches caused by contact with other items.
  • For sterling silver, storing in airtight containers helps slow down tarnishing.

3. Cleaning

  • Metals: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to keep your jewellery clean. Occasionally wash gently in lukewarm, soapy water to remove dirt or oils.
  • Patinated / oxidised surfaces: These finishes will naturally fade or change with contact. They may rub off if scratched. Clean only with warm, soapy water and avoid abrasive cloths.
  • Keum-Boo surfaces: As the bonded layer of gold is very thin, it is prone to scratching. Avoid chemicals and harsh cleaning methods—simply use a soft silver cloth to wipe away dirt.

✨ With these simple steps, your jewellery will maintain its beauty and character for years to come, enjoy!
